It is the means and methods that work on transmitting signals and information between people, and it is represented in the intellectual and emotional exchanges between them, and it takes place through the transmission of a set of messages from a sending person to a receiving person. 

As for the communication process itself, it is the pattern that takes place between two or more people in order to reach certain goals of delivering clear messages to all parties.

When talking about means of communication, modern means of communication come to mind, which includes means of remote communication, social media, such as Facebook, Twitter, and conversational applications, such as WhatsApp, and this is because it is the current means of communication used in the land, in addition to the means used in the era. Old communication, such as carrier pigeons, for example, and is thanks to the information technology revolution that swept the world, and turned it into a very small village where people can communicate with ease.

Components of the communication process

The communication process consists of four elements:

Sender: represents the first party, which is the person who controls the communication process by sending the message in some way.

Receiver: represents the second party, which is the person who receives the messages sent from the first party (the sender), and is not in control of the communication process as the first party. 

Message: represents the third party, which are words or signals that are transmitted from the sender to the receiver during the communication process, followed by a reaction.

Communication medium: It is a tool through which messages and signals are transmitted from the sender to the receiver in order to reach the desired goal of the communication process.

The effect of social media on society

The means of communication made a great revolution in the world, as it was able to transform the big world into a small village in which a person can communicate with others with less effort and less cost, and modern means of communication have entered into various fields, such as education, companies, and governmental and private institutions.

In the field of education

The means of communication are used in the home education system, which allows the student to receive his education fully effectively with the teacher without the need to reach the school or university. 

Recently, the number of online homeschooling schools has increased, and their certificates are as officially accredited as any certificate from any school. And many universities have converted many of their courses to distance education courses, which allowed the possibility of increasing the number of students enrolled in these courses without being restricted to the size of the classroom.

In the field of companies and institutions

The company or institution is now able to conduct meetings for its employees without the need to be in the same location, especially when the company or institution has multiple branches in different countries. In addition to the possibility of making contacts with different companies or institutions in order to conclude deals, or to make agreements in general, and this has led to facilitating interaction between large and small companies.

Participation in conferences has become easier by using modern means of communication, as video conferencing has appeared, which has removed the employee's need to travel and travel to access conferences.

In the field of daily life

There are many uses of modern means of communication in the field of daily life, as it has become difficult to find a person who does not carry a mobile phone or a house that does not contain at least one landline phone, and it has become large and small that his mobile phone is not devoid of instant messaging software and communication applications.

Voice Over IP technology (VOIP) is a modern means that enables the user to make a voice and image communication via the Internet, and this connection is characterized by speed and clarity of sound and image. Some VOIP software uses audio and video encryption, which gives callers complete privacy. Famous examples of VOIP applications are Skype and Viber.
